The 2020-21 Festival will be held for 10 days in 20 selected countries. You can watch the films for free if you are in one of those countries during the Festival. (See the Festival Countries&Schedule)

4. Explore, learn, enjoy Japanese films
The film streaming schedule in your country will be announced 2 weeks before the first day of the Festival. Streaming schedule and film titles differ according to the country. Browse through our selection of some of Japan’s most acclaimed films and watch them for free!
5. 24-hour window
Films are available for 24 hours from the scheduled starting time. You will no longer be able to view films when they reach the 24-hour expiration limit.
When you’ve created your account, found your films, and confirmed the schedule, just sit back and enjoy the JFF Plus: Online Festival from the comfort of your home.

HOW TO ENJOY THE FESTIVAL
Q. Do I have to register?
Yes, you are required to create an account and sign in to watch films.
Q. How do I purchase tickets?
No tickets are required. All the films are streamed FOR FREE to anyone in the Festival countries. Simply click “Watch for Free” to add films you wish to see to the list and click “play” at the scheduled time!
Q. My film ends after the next film is scheduled to start. Can I watch both?
There is a 24-hour window that allows you to click “play” from the scheduled stream time, so don’t worry! Finish the first film then go to the next one!
Q. My country is not listed as one of the Festival countries. Can I still watch films?
Streaming is only available for people who are in Festival countries during the Festival dates.
Q. Can I watch with subtitles?
To watch with subtitles, click “CC” on the Player to select your language. Some films may not have subtitles in your language.
Q. How can I fix delayed subtitles?

Q. Can I re-watch films during the festival period?
All films are available throughout the scheduled streaming time. As long as you play the film within the 24-hour time frame, you can watch as many times as you want!
Q. Who is the Organizer?
JFF Plus: Online Festival is organized by The Japan Foundation. For more details on the JFF Project, visit the JFF Plus website.
Q. What are the system requirements?
You can watch on PCs running Windows 10 (Note: Windows 10, version 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709, or version 1803 may not be supported), and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+.
You can also watch on Android tablets and phones (Note: The android device should support Google Widevine security level 1) using Chrome and on iPhones and iPads using Safari. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work. You’ll find a complete list of requirements below.
Q. What are the requirements for Windows computers?
Windows 10 version 1809 or later. Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. Temporarily unavailable on Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera - expected back in January 2021.
Q. What are the requirements for Mac computers?
MacOS 10.12 or later. Safari. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. Temporarily unavailable on Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera - expected back in January 2021.
Q. Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?
Yes, you can watch content using Safari and this requires iOS 11.2 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.
Q. Can I watch content on my Android Device?
Yes, you can watch content using Chrome and this requires Android 7 or later and also the android device should support Google Widewine security L1 (You can check that by downloading the app “DRM Info” from the play store) . We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.
Q. I can’t stream any of the content, what’s going on?
Check your minimum system requirements above. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your browser. We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. For High Definition (HD) streaming we recommend VDSL, cable or fibre connections as we cannot guarantee consistent HD streaming on ADSL.
Q. What happens if I forget my password?
Simply click Forgot your password on the Sign In page, enter the email address you used when you created an account and a link to reset your password will be sent to you.
Q. Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?
If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. Try lowering the playback bitrate.
Q. Video is very low resolution. Is there any problem?
The streaming may take some time to adjust high resolution depending on device and browser. You can adjust amend a bit-rate from the right bottom menu. However, this is not possible with iOS and Mac.
